Dinner Cruise

Wenesday night we boarded "The spirit of Kona" the ship for our dinner cruise. we boarded the two decker boat and found our seats at a large table. just after take off  we saw the most amazing sunset. for dinner we ate beef kabobs, mango chicken, fresh salad, wild rice and roasted veggies. it was all delicious. durring dinner we were lucky enough to see a pod of humpback whales. they were amazing. after dinner we listened to the music entertainment and ate delicious red velvet cake. at night we saw the amazing night view of the island with all the lights along the coast, a truly beautiful sight

Coconuts

so we were sitting in the condo early wensday afternoon when we noticed some men outside cutting down some coconuts from the trees right outside our home. so of course we had to go out there and ask for a fresh coconut. not only was the man we talked to more than willing to comply with our request he also gave us not just one coconut but a whole coconut for each of us, he also cut off the tops and opened them for us with his hugh machete knife. we drank the juice inside and ate the yummy fresh coconut too

Dolphin Disaster (almost)

so what started out as a disaster at the dolphin encounter turned out better than we ever could have imagined. Our reservation got lost for us to spend the morning swimming with dolphins (awful, I know) but luckily one of the women who worked at the encounter was willing to make it up to us. not only did she rebook our dolphin encounter for next sunday morning, she gave us a discount on it. and even more amazing was that she took our troop on an exclusive, private behind the scenes tour of the facilities. we got to touch a turtle, hold hermit crabs and sea cucumbers. we also were able to go through the back inner working of the facilities, we got to see how the dolphins food was prepaired, see the dolphin lab, and even got to see the baby dolphin, he was only six months old, soooo cute. we also learned lots about the potential carrears available working with these cool creatures.
